Boer soldiers in parade uniform. It is rare to see any Boer in a fancy uniform; even most of the top generals wore grubby functional clothes which would have made any self-respecting British officer cry if he had to wear them. But one reason the Boer forces were as effective as they were is that they did not waste time on ceremony or ornamentation; they did what they had to do to get the job done.
